XcodeGhost is the culprit at large here, it is a hacked version of development software used by app developers normally known as Xcode. The malware can phish for login and password information as well as other personal details. Popular apps such as Angry Birds 2 and WeChat have been confirmed to be infected, but Rovio has stated that the Chinese version of Angry Birds 2 from the Chinese App Store was affected. With an estimated 300+ apps infected and only about 30 or so positively identified, it is understandable the concern Apple users are having. Although US and European App Stores have not been confirmed to be infected with such malware, sources are encouraging users to delete apps they have that are on the list. Check the list below to see which apps have been identified as unsafe. So, just to take extra precaution, if you see an app on the above list that you have downloaded on your iPhone or iPad you should delete immediately and wait for the app to be available again on the App Store.
